Dual Enrollment
The Kern High School District (KHSD) formally began Dual Enrollment in the Fall of 2015 with Bakersfield College and Cerro Coso College. At that time, 530 students were enrolled in courses receiving both high school credit and college credit. Since this time, the KHSD has also partnered with California State University, Bakersfield, and the number of Dual Enrollment students has dramatically risen to roughly 4,200 students in the Spring of 2020.
The KHSD’s Dual Enrollment Program allows students the opportunity to earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously, during their regular school day. This is not only a great way to receive rigorous, college-aligned curriculum, but it also allows students the ability to begin accruing college credits while in high school. In most cases, there are no fees associated with a Dual Enrollment course.
