Do the Math at ROC

Do the Math is a homework resource show produced by the KCSOS, where students can call in and ask teachers for help on specific math problems. The show also includes a “Math in the Real World” segment that is filmed at an offsite location.

The September 13th Math in the Real World segment highlighted the variety of career training programs available to Kern High School District juniors and seniors at the ROC. For this episode there was a specific focus on the ROC Business, Banking, and Finance program and the partnership with Kern Schools Federal Credit Union (KSFCU). Students in this program get to apply their math skills in a real world setting on a daily basis by working in the student run KSFCU branch located on the ROC campus.

The Do the Math in the Real World crew consisted of Devin Rossiter, Mackenzie Kushine, John Lenko, and WIllie Lowell. They are scheduled to come back to ROC two more times this year and shoot additional episodes on October 18th and November 15th. Do the Math airs every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30-5:30 on Spectrum channel 15 and also is livestreamed on YouTube. Students interested in finding out more about the opportunities available to them at ROC should visit the ROC website at roc.kernhigh.org.
